Is There Such Thing as Too Much Drugs?
According to this interview with Nick Cave and Jim Sclavunos, the writer Jon Doran tries to confirm a rumor that the Butthole Surfers once asked to be removed from a show with Birthday Party and the Swans because those two bands were doing too much heroin. Nick Cave seemed to have never heard this rumor, though it was surmised that the show in question was in Hamburg, this rumor was not confirmed in this interview.

From what Paul has said, the backstage scene was pretty horrendous...needles everywhere, Nick violent...i think i read he had the needle hanging out of his arm as he smacked a girl, etc...
the show ended in a riot, and i think the band gave up performing the next two nights of the 3 night "Kings of Independence Festival"...
not sure if it was the drugs, the fact that the shows seemed poorly planned, or what, but they did cancel the next two nights...
